The course introduces topics in mathematics that every educated person needs to know to process, evaluate, and understand the numerical and graphical information in our society. Applications of mathematics in problem solving, finance, probability, statistics, linear programming, population growth and logic arising in applications addressed in other fields of study. For each topic studied, the emphasis will be placed first on the mathematical model and then on some significant applications. Inquiry into the applications will motivate problem-solving exercises requiring constructs.
It is a three-unit course that develops students’ communicative competence and enhances their cultural and intercultural awareness through multimodal tasks that provide them opportunities for communicating effectively and appropriately to a multicultural audience in local or global context.

Physical Activity Towards Health and Fitness
D035; Subject Code: NSTP 11; Course Description: National Service Training Program 2
This course is intended to acquaint students with the properties, reactions, sources, structure, functions, and biosynthesis of the biomolecules, namely, proteins, carbohydrates, lipids and nucleic acids, found in the living systems. It includes different metabolic processes where these biomolecules are utilized and how the metabolic processes are integrated into the total metabolic function of the living system. An understanding of these biochemical systems and chemical reactions will give a better appreciation of their roles in the maintenance of life and order in the body
